Guthrie Votes To Support Servicemembers

Washington, D.C. , September 29, 2023 | DJ Griffin (202-225-3501)

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) released the following statement after voting for H.R. 4365 the FY24 Defense Appropriations Bill last night:

“As the Representative of Fort Knox, the Wendell H. Ford Regional Training Center, and thousands of military servicemembers and their families, I’m proud to vote for the Defense Appropriations Bill for Fiscal Year 2024. This bill ensures our men and women in uniform are supported by Congress with the tools they need to keep us safe.

The Defense Appropriations bill includes a historic pay raise for junior enlisted servicemembers averaging nearly 30%. I am especially proud this bill supports the work our National Guard does to prevent the flow of illicit drugs from entering our communities by funding their counter-drug programs, including training programs designed to halt drug Cartels from trafficking these poisons into our country.

I call on my colleagues in the Senate to take up this Defense Appropriations bill to ensure our troops have the resources they need to protect our nation,” said Guthrie.
