Guthrie Votes for Improved Servicemember Quality of Life and Military Readiness

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) released the following statement after voting for H.R. 8070, the Servicemember Quality of Life Improvement and National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2025.

“Today, I voted for the Servicemember Quality of Life Improvement and National Defense Authorization Act which ensures that the United States remains a military superpower and provides our servicemembers an increased quality of life while serving our country. This legislation helps provide junior enlisted servicemembers a 19.5% pay raise, improves housing programs for our enlisted servicemembers, and creates a new pilot program that expands apprenticeship and career training for retiring servicemembers. The legislation doubles-down on House Republicans’ commitment to defending against our greatest adversaries, like the Chinese Communist Party, while continuing our support for our closest ally in the Middle East, Israel, by authorizing cooperative missile defense systems and reaffirming Israel’s right to defend itself from Hamas terrorists. This bill also includes key provisions to ensure child development centers across the country have the resources they need to help our military families care for their children,” said Congressman Guthrie.
