Guthrie Votes To Finish Building Border Wall and Secure Our Southern Border

Washington, D.C. , September 29, 2023 | DJ Griffin (202-225-3501)

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02), released the following statement after voting for the FY2024 Department of Homeland Security appropriations bill last night. This bill will provide key resources to end Biden’s border crisis and funds key solutions to address the 6 million illegal immigrants and tens of thousands of pounds of deadly drugs Biden has allowed into our country in the last three years alone:

“Over the last two years we have lost over 200,000 Americans to drug overdoses, primarily due to the dramatic increase of illicit drugs, such as fentanyl, crossing our Southern border. Last night I was proud to vote to bring an end to Biden’s border crisis by providing funding to hire an all-time high 22,000 border agents, resuming construction of the border wall, and ensuring enforcement of our immigration laws on the books. Over the last nearly three years, every state has become a border state due to President Biden’s failed border policies; leading to the influx of illicit drugs and more than 6 million illegal immigrants entering into the United States. With this vote, House Republicans have once again delivered on our Commitment to America to secure our nation and continue holding the Biden Administration accountable,” said Guthrie.
