Guthrie Leads Thornberry on Visit to Fort Knox

Like those in the community, I understand how important of a facility Fort Knox is, but it is critical that others in Washington understand that too.

WASHINGTON, D.C.– Congressman Brett Guthrie was accompanied today on a visit to Fort Knox with Congressman Mac Thornberry (TX-13).

"I was honored to have Congressman Thornberry spend a day with me in Kentucky’s Second District," said Congressman Guthrie. "Like those in the community, I understand how important of a facility Fort Knox is, but it is critical that others in Washington understand that too. This visit was very productive and I’m grateful for Congressman Thornberry’s time and interest in visiting Fort Knox."

Congressmen Guthrie and Thornberry had lunch with soldiers and toured the following sites at Fort Knox: Cadet Command, Warrior Transition Battalion, Tracer Automation Control Center, Human Resources Command, Mission Command Training Center and the Patton Museum of Leadership.

"Part of my responsibility as vice chairman of the Armed Services Committee is to make sure these investments and the strategic advantage they provide our armed forces do not fall victim to politics in Washington,"said Congressman Thornberry. "This community is really fortunate to have Brett Guthrie working for you in Washington. Brett is not only a solid lawmaker and a strong advocate for this base and his district, he is someone who really understands the military having served in the Army himself.  You would be hard-pressed to find someone who is more effective than he is representing you on national security and many other issues."
