Guthrie Votes to Make America Secure

Washington, DC– Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) today released the following statement after voting in favor of the Make America Secure Act (H.R. 3219). This is a government funding bill made up of four of the twelve annual appropriations bills, including Defense, Legislative Branch, Energy and Water, and Military Construction and Veterans Affairs:

“Today I was proud to support our nation’s security. As freedoms we often take for granted come under fire around the world, we must continue to support a strong military here at home and ensure that our servicemen and women have the resources they need to keep our country safe. The Make America Secure Act provides for defense-related accounts, supports our veterans, and fully funds our military, giving our troops the largest pay increase in eight years. It fulfills President Trump’s promise to begin to address our border security. It also funds the U.S. Capitol Police agency, which my colleagues and I are especially grateful for this year following recent events.”
