Washington, DC– Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) today issued the following statement following the announcement that the Army Leadership Development and Assessment Course (LDAC) will be relocated to Fort Knox:

“This is great news for the Commonwealth. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Senator Rand Paul and I have been advocating for this relocation and I am thrilled that this proposal is coming to fruition. It is especially heartening given the recent news that Ft. Knox will be losing the Duke Brigade. The addition of LDAC will not offset the loss of the 3-1, but is certainly a step in the right direction and an exciting addition for the community.

“Earlier correspondence with the Army indicated that moving LDAC to Fort Knox ‘would simplify command and control, reduce redundancies, and create new efficiencies that would improve the effectiveness’ of ROTC training. This sensible decision only enhances the role Fort Knox plays in our communities and the entire Kentucky economy. Ft. Knox is a natural choice because of the excellent infrastructure and existing commands.

“This has truly been a team effort and I’m grateful to the hard work of MG (Ret.) Bill Barron and the CORE Committee. Fort Knox is a critical asset to the Commonwealth and I look forward to monitoring the relocation of LDAC.”
