Washington, DC – Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) released the following statement Thursday, December 8, 2011, calling on United States Attorney General Eric Holder to resign following his actions and testimony in relation to Operation Fast and Furious. “After careful consideration and a lengthy review of the facts, I believe that Attorney General Eric Holder should resign from office. I have never called on a cabinet official to step down and did not come to this conclusion lightly. “The Attorney General has, at best, misled Congress and the American people. His job is to oversee federal law enforcement nationwide and his complacence in allowing military-grade firearms to fall into the hands of Mexican drug lords who terrorize our southern border on a daily basis represents a lapse of trust, judgment and leadership. This breach can never be repaired, and as such, I believe he should resign.” |
