I will be closely following the president's proposal as it advances through Congress. My primary concern is that the AUMF provide strong enough authority for the president to take any actions necessary to destroy ISIL, without placing limitations on available strategies or resources. We should not be telling our enemies exactly what we will or will not do, said Congressman Guthrie.

Included in the primary text of the bill is funding for many important agencies that keep our nation safe and secure, including: Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the U.S. Coast Guard, the Transportation Security Agency (TSA) and the U.S. Secret Service. Amendments to H.R. 240 were also included in direct response to President Obama's unconstitutional executive overreach on immigration.
