WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) released the following statement after the House passed H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act.

“The Lower Energy Costs Act delivers on House Republicans’ commitment to the American people to increase domestic energy production and address President Biden’s energy crisis. Since day one in office, President Biden has been advancing far-left policies that weaken energy production in the U.S. As a result, prices at the pump and Americans’ home heating bills have skyrocketed under the Biden Administration.

“H.R. 1 is not only about lowering energy costs. This also recognizes that domestic energy production is key to our national security and ensuring the U.S. and our allies are not dependent on dictators for our energy needs.

“I’m proud that my resolution to reaffirm U.S. energy dominance is part of this comprehensive energy package. Congress’ bipartisan decision to repeal the decades-long export ban on crude oil and petroleum products elevated the U.S. to a global energy superpower and needs to be kept in place,” said Guthrie.

Guthrie introduced H.Con.Res.17, which is included in the Lower Energy Costs Act.
