Guthrie Votes to Support Military Readiness and Military Families

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) released the following statement after voting for the FY23 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

“As our nation’s adversaries continue to modernize and invest in their militaries, the United States needs to ensure our service members have the best, cutting-edge equipment and training to face our adversaries at any time and at any place. At the same time, our country needs to support our service members and their families as they make sacrifices in defense of our nation. The National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2023 accomplishes both, and I’m proud to support it.

“The NDAA will allow the Department of Defense to invest in emerging technologies, expand training opportunities for service members, and modernize critical systems and equipment, such as combat vehicles, aircraft, and missile defense, to deter and counter threats from the Chinese Communist Party, Russia, and other adversaries. I am also proud to vote for a 4.6 percent pay raise and additional funding to increase housing allowances and lower the costs of food and other goods at military commissaries to help service members and their families with the rising cost of living due to record-high inflation. I hope the Senate takes up the NDAA soon to ensure timely passage of this critical legislation,” said Guthrie.
