Washington, DC– In the early hours of this morning, Congressman Brett Guthrie voted in support of the FY2015 Commerce, Justice, Science Appropriations bill. The bill includes funding for key law enforcement efforts, particularly programs to help combat counterterrorism, drug trafficking, human trafficking and violence against women. “Both local and federal law enforcement officials play a tremendous role in the public safety of our citizens,” said Congressman Guthrie. “This bill ensures the necessary programs and resources are available so they can continue to do their daily jobs.” The bill also funds initiatives to boost American competitiveness, innovation and economic growth. “Jobs and the economy continue to be the number one concern I hear from Kentuckians. This bill funds key programs and eliminates inefficient ones, bolstering our manufacturing sector and better equipping today’s workforce.” Since taking the majority, House Republicans have continuously introduced effective and fiscally responsible legislation. This bill spends $398 million less than the FY2014 level. “This bill is proof that you can adequately fund crucial federal programs, reduce wasteful spending, and maintain fiscal responsibility,” said Congressman Guthrie. ### |
