Congressman Guthrie appointed to the National Defense Authorization Act Conference Committee

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) was appointed by Leader Kevin McCarthy to the conference committee on H.R. 6395, the Mac Thornberry National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 (NDAA). This conference committee will resolve differences between the House and Senate versions of the NDAA and move the bill forward to eventually become law. The NDAA is an annual bill that authorizes funding and programming for the U.S. military.

“It is an honor to be selected to serve on the conference committee for the FY 2021 NDAA. I am proud to represent the brave men and women in uniform and their families who live and serve at Fort Knox, and I will always fight to ensure they have the resources they need to complete their mission. I am committed to working with my colleagues to ensure that this NDAA will help our military in its efforts to modernize its systems so we can deter China and other threats to our national security, as well as support our troops and their families,” said Congressman Guthrie.

“From West Point Cadet to Army artillery officer and as a representative serving his constituents, Brett has been a leader in every sense of the word. He brings unique insights to our Republican conference and is a natural choice to serve on this year’s NDAA conference committee. As someone who uniquely understands the missions and challenges our troops face, Brett will ensure this year’s defense bill prioritizes our troops’ needs and ensures our military is equipped to handle current and future national security challenges,” said Leader McCarthy.
