Guthrie Announces Additional Funding for Health Care Providers

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) today announced that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is distributing additional funding for health care providers through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which Guthrie voted for last month.

HHS began disbursing the $100 billion for health care providers earlier this month, with $30 billion going directly to health care providers. The additional funding announced today will be allocated to rural health care providers, Medicaid providers, providers who treat the uninsured, and to COVID-19 high-impact areas.

“Health care providers need all the help they can get during this trying time – especially in rural areas like Kentucky,” said Guthrie. “As a member of the Energy and Commerce Committee’s Health Subcommittee, I have been working with my colleagues and with the administration to ensure that providers have the resources they need to continue the fight against the coronavirus and to ensure that patients with COVID-19 get the care they need. Thank you to all of our health care workers who are on the frontlines against this invisible enemy.”
