Guthrie Announces Money for Health Care Providers

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) today announced that $30 billion is being distributed by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to provide relief for health care providers who are responding to the coronavirus outbreak.

This money was funded by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which Congressman Guthrie voted for last month. The CARES Act provided $100 billion total for health care providers. Of this initial distribution of $30 billion, over 3,900 Kentucky providers have received $452,761,171.

“I was proud to vote for the CARES Act to provide funding for our health care providers, who are on the front lines protecting us from the coronavirus,” said Guthrie. “CARES will ensure that patients can receive coronavirus tests and care, while helping health care providers during this unprecedented time. I will continue to work with my colleagues and with the administration to keep providing resources to Kentuckians.”

Guthrie is a senior member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which has jurisdiction over the Department of Health and Human Services. He is the Republican leader of the committee’s Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, which will provide oversight over certain provisions of the CARES Act.
