Washington, DC – Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) released the following statement after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit ruled 2-1 on Tuesday to strike down the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Cross-State Air Pollution Rule (CSAPR). “The Cross-State Air Pollution Rule was one of EPA’s many regulatory overreaches that are suffocating job creation in Kentucky. As the Court said today, this rule ‘exceeds the agency’s statutory authority,’ and is yet another reminder that President Obama’s EPA is out of control. This regulation was scheduled to cost our national economy, at a minimum, $2.4 billion in compliance. That’s an extra $2.4 billion just to keep the lights on and maintain the status quo and money that won’t be used to hire, expand, or create jobs. “Stopping the Obama Administration’s job-killing regulatory agenda is at the top of House Republicans list of things to do to get our economy moving again. I welcome this ruling and look forward to continuing my work on the Energy and Commerce Committee to stop these regulations and start creating jobs.” CSAPR targets 28 states, including Kentucky, with Clean Air Act regulations to control emissions affects on downwind states. ### |
