Washington, DC– Today, Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) voted in support of H.R. 185, the Regulatory Accountability Act. “The seemingly endless amount of burdensome government regulations carries a serious price tag and costs the average household roughly $15,000 each year,” said Congressman Guthrie. “That’s real money for American families.” Excessive regulation has a trickle-down effect that results in higher prices at the grocery store, lower wages, fewer jobs and a less-competitive economy. “The mission of this bipartisan bill is quite simple – to ensure the Administration adopts the least costly method to implement our laws and that it is done in a transparent and streamlined manner. Overregulation is a constant problem under this Administration, and the hefty price tag associated with it is presenting serious challenges for American families and businesses,” said Congressman Guthrie. The House of Representatives passed this bill, with bipartisan support, a total of three times during the last two Congresses. “I urge my colleagues in the Senate to act quickly on this measure so it can get to the president’s desk. It is well past time for this commonsense bill to become law,” added Congressman Guthrie. ### |
