Guthrie Supports Legislation Aiming to Stop Government Abuse

Congressman Brett Guthrie voted on several pieces of legislation this week that seek to restrain a runaway government and empower citizens. The week of July 29th has been named "Stop Government Abuse Week."
Washington, DC– Congressman Brett Guthrie voted on several pieces of legislation this week that seek to restrain a runaway government and empower citizens. The week of July 29th has been named “Stop Government Abuse Week.” Among these bills is H.R. 367, the “Regulations From the Executive in Need of Scrutiny Act of 2013,” which was originally introduced in the 112th Congress. H.R. 367 would require Congressional approval of all regulations costing more than $100 million. This bill passed the House on Friday by a vote of 232-183. “This Administration has a track record of overregulating individuals and businesses,” said Congressman Guthrie. “Passing this bill ensures a more thorough review process before this Administration can use regulations to slam state-wide economies with an iron fist.” Congressman Guthrie also voted in support of H.R. 1582, the “Energy Consumers Relief Act,” a bill to protect consumers from new energy regulations totaling billions of dollars that could lead to higher energy prices and job losses. This bill passed the House on Thursday by a vote of 232-181. “Kentucky runs on coal.
