Guthrie Attends White House Signing of Workforce Training Bill

At a time when Americans want Congress to find common ground and work together where we can agree, this bill stands as an example of what real solutions look like, said Congressman Guthrie.

Washington, DC– Congressman Brett Guthrie today attended the signing ceremony of H.R. 803, the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.

Passed in the House on July 9th, H.R. 803 streamlines a complicated web of programs, grants states and localities greater flexibility, accelerates access to training for in-demand jobs, and incorporates heightened accountability over taxpayer dollars.

“This is an important day for America’s workforce,” said Congressman Guthrie.  “Today’s economy continues to become more advanced and today’s workers need the skills to fill these jobs.  H.R. 803 offers training and other resources to ensure that happens.”

A champion of reauthorizing the Workforce Investment Act, Congressman Guthrie has played an integral role in moving this legislation forward.  Congressman Guthrie previously introduced a similar reauthorization bill in the 111th Congress.

“It was an honor to be at the White House today with my Republican and Democrat colleagues to see this legislation signed into law.  At a time when Americans want Congress to find common ground and work together where we can agree, this bill stands as an example of what real solutions look like,” added Congressman Guthrie.
