During ÔMade in America' Week, Guthrie Votes to Improve Energy Infrastructure, Create Jobs
Washington, DC,
July 20, 2017
Washington, DC– Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02), a senior member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, voted for two bills to improve energy infrastructure in the United States, the Promoting Cross-Border Energy Infrastructure Act (H.R. 2883) and the Promoting Interagency Coordination for Review of Natural Gas Pipelines Act (H.R. 2910). In light of National “Made in America” Week, these bills would help to create jobs and also promote the manufacturing of new American products. “The number one concern among Americans right now is jobs,” said Guthrie. “To create jobs we need to help American companies compete in an increasingly global economy. By modernizing our energy infrastructure, we not only take another step closer toward energy independence, but also support President Trump’s agenda, which is centered around American workers. I was proud to vote for these two bills on the House floor and urge the Senate to pass them as soon as possible.” The Promoting Cross-Border Energy Infrastructure Act would authorize the construction and maintenance of cross-border facilities for the import and export of oil and natural gas – making it easier for American companies to export energy products to our North American neighbors. The Promoting Interagency Coordination for Review of Natural Gas Pipeline Act would expedite the interstate natural gas pipeline approval process but maintain existing safety standards, allowing for safer energy transport while making energy costs more affordable for Kentuckians.
