Washington, DC– Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) was today selected to be chairman of the Subcommittee on Higher Education and Workforce Development by Committee on Education and the Workforce Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (NC-05).

“I want to thank Chairwoman Foxx for selecting me to chair the Higher Education and Workforce Development Subcommittee,” said Guthrie. “She has been a strong leader on this subcommittee in the past and I look forward to continuing her good work to ensure our higher education and workforce development systems are adequately preparing students to participate in the 21^st-Century workforce.”

Guthrie served as ranking member of the subcommittee during his first term in Congress and has served on it in three of the last four Congresses, during which time he worked on a number of issues including the Workforce Investment Act and financial counseling for student borrowers.
