Washington, DC– Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) today voted in support of H.R. 3, the Northern Route Approval Act. “It’s been more than four years since the permits to build the Keystone XL pipeline were filed,” said Congressman Guthrie. “How much longer do we need to wait when we could be putting Americans to work on a project that will allow us to develop secure and affordable energy?” Congressman Guthrie is a co-sponsor of H.R. 3, which would allow construction to begin on the northern leg of the Keystone XL pipeline. “Between estimates from the Department of Energy and TransCanada, the Keystone XL pipeline would move 830,000 barrels each day and directly create 20,000 jobs. This project is a no brainer,” said Congressman Guthrie. “This pipeline has the capability to create quality and lasting jobs, as well as provide energy security for our nation. It is incomprehensible that President Obama continues to stand in the way of the Keystone XL pipeline, which has the power to truly act as a keystone,” added Congressman Guthrie. ### |
