Guthrie Announces North Bullitt County High School Student Appointment to West Point

Washington, DC– Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) today announced the appointment of North Bullitt County High School student Kailah Habib to the U.S. Military Academy.

“As a West Point graduate myself, it was an honor to nominate Kailah to The U.S. Military Academy,” said Guthrie. “I was thrilled to be able to break the news to her about this appointment yesterday. Kailah is a strong student and a proven leader at her school. I know that should she choose to accept her appointment, she will serve our country admirably.”

Each year, Guthrie, along with guidance from the Second District Academy Board, nominates a limited number of high-achieving students to our nation’s Army, Navy, Air Force, and Merchant Marine Academies. Once nominations are made, each service academy determines who will receive an offer of appointment based on a competitive vetting process. The service academies announce appointments on a rolling basis.

Guthrie will announce any additional appointments as they are made over the coming months.
