Washington, DC– Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) today announced Riley Roth, a student at Apollo High School in Owensboro as the winner representing Kentucky’s Second District in the 2014 House STEM App Competition. This was the inaugural year of the competition for high school students, which was sponsored by the U.S. House of Representatives. The House STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) App Challenge provides an opportunity for individual students or teams up to four, to display their talents by constructing a detailed plan for a software application (app) for a tablet, computer or mobile device. Riley described his app as being designed to “assist students, teachers, professors and scientists doing research by making accurate and valid scientific websites easily accessible in a single source.” “I’d like to congratulate Riley on his Science Research Site Finder app,” said Congressman Guthrie. “Riley’s app is very practical and could surely be put to use by many students in Kentucky and across the United States.” Information about Riley’s winning app is currently featured on both the House website as well as Congressman Guthrie’s website. ### |
