Guthrie Votes for 9th Time in Support of Keystone XL Pipeline

We have waited far too long to move forward on this shovel-ready project that would put thousands of Americans to work and allow us to safely develop secure and affordable energy.

Washington, DC – Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) today voted in support of H.R. 5682, a bill to approve the Keystone XL Pipeline.

“It’s been more than six years since the permits to build the Keystone XL pipeline were filed,” said Congressman Guthrie.  “We have waited far too long to move forward on this shovel-ready project that would put thousands of Americans to work and allow us to safely develop secure and affordable energy.”

H.R. 5682 authorizes the immediate construction, connection, operation and maintenance of the Keystone XL pipeline.

“The President has stonewalled the pipeline for years and now it’s time to finally get this project across the finish line.  Incredibly, the House has voted nine times in favor of Keystone, but the Senate has never acted and the President continues to delay,” said Congressman Guthrie.

“I have long supported an ‘all-the-above’ energy policy, and this pipeline has the capability to create quality and lasting jobs, while going a long way toward establishing energy security for our nation.  I encourage the Senate to quickly take up this legislation and follow in the House’s footsteps.”
