Washington, DC – Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) released the following statement Monday, February 14, 2011, on President Obama’s budget proposal for fiscal year 2012:

“We have the responsibility to protect the future of our nation. The president’s budget proposal spends too much, taxes too much and borrows too much.

“This year’s deficit is reaching $1.5 trillion, running our nation’s total debt up to $14 trillion.

“Continuing the spending binge and imposing massive tax hikes on families and small businesses is not a viable option.

“The question is whether or not we cut spending today to put America's fiscal health in order, so the generations of tomorrow are not met with an unstable future.”
