Washington, DC– Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) was recently named a recipient of the American Farm Bureau Federation’s “Friend of Farm Bureau” award. “I am honored that the American Farm Bureau Federation has recognized my support of countless measures to assist and improve the agricultural community,” said Congressman Guthrie. “Agriculture is a key industry to economic growth and success in both Kentucky and America.” “It comes as no surprise that the American Farm Bureau Federation is presenting Congressman Guthrie with the 2012 ‘Friend of Farm Bureau’ Award,” said Mark Haney, President of Kentucky Farm Bureau. “When agriculture in Kentucky and our nation needs support, Farm Bureau confidently turns to leaders like Congressman Guthrie. His efforts in Washington to help farmers succeed in a global economy are recognized and appreciated throughout the Commonwealth.” Congressman Guthrie will host an Agriculture Awareness Forum on Thursday, September 27 at the Daviess County Lions Club Fairgrounds. Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture James Comer will be a guest speaker at the event, which is designed to provide an opportunity to discuss issues Kentucky famers are facing. The event is open to the public. According to the American Farm Bureau Federation, “the award is given to individuals who have supported Farm Bureau issues, as shown by their voting records, and who were nominated by their respective state Farm Bureau and approved by the Board of Directors of the American Farm Bureau Federation. The voting records were based on issues selected by the American Farm Bureau Federation Board of Directors.” ### |
