WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02), a senior member of the house Energy & Commerce Committee released the following statement the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) release sweeping guidelines this morning that will shutter coal fire power plants across Kentucky and the nation and further undermine America’s energy independence:

“This morning the Biden administration continued their war on American-made energy. The Obama-Biden War on Coal blatantly ignores the importance coal and other fossil fuels play in helping to provide reliable and affordable sources of energy to American households. Biden’s rush-to Green agenda also fails to recognize our best resource, our hard working energy workforce whose communities are being shuttered by Biden’s failed agenda. Above all, we cannot retire power plants without alternative sources of energy to address increases in electricity demand and to keep the lights on for families across the Commonwealth and the nation,” said Congressman Guthrie.
