WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02), who serves as the Chair of the Health Subcommittee on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, released the following statement following the retirement announcement of Energy and Commerce Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05).

“Today my close friend and a true leader of the Republican party, Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers announced her retirement following a tremendous career in Congress. As House Republican Conference Chair and the first woman to lead the Energy and Commerce Committee, Chairwoman Rodgers has left an indelible mark on our institution and on our nation. From her work on protecting Americans’ privacy, to fighting for the rights of those with disabilities, to increasing transparency in health care pricing, Cathy has led the way forward for our party and our nation. Cathy’s hard work and stalwart commitment to her values are an inspiration to many and have moved our country forward since she took office in 2005. I thank her for her dedication and leadership of the Energy and Commerce Committee and look forward to working with her to deliver for the American people throughout the rest of the 118th Congress,” said Congressman Brett Guthrie.
