In Case You Missed It – This morning, Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) questioned Michael L. Connor, the head of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Civil Division about the dam removal process in Edmonson County. The questions Congressman Guthrie asked as prepared are below:

Guthrie: Assistant Secretary Connor, the Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District has been working with me and community leaders in my district, Kentucky’s Second Congressional district, to solve critical problems that have arisen related to the removal of Green River Lock and Dam 5. This dam removal was authorized by Congress and was based on what we now know was a flawed study performed by the Army Corps of Engineers.

o   When considering removal of a dam, does the Army Corps consider potential problems that may arise from dam removal?

o   Does the Army Corps of Engineers consider the benefits of leaving a dam in place since the waterway and local environment have adapted to the change in what once was its natural flow?
