Guthrie Votes For Largest Servicemember Pay Raise in Over 20 Years

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) released the following statement after voting for the FY24 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

“As the U.S. Representative of Fort Knox and Wendell H. Ford Regional Training Center, I’m fighting for those who fight to keep us free. The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for fiscal year 2024 ensures that our country’s military continues to be on the cutting edge as the world’s superpower while also ensuring we stand guard for our military families.

I was proud to vote for the largest pay raise for servicemembers in over 20 years, an expanded Basic Needs Allowance to assist servicemembers supporting a family, and an authorization to reduce out-of-pocket housing expenses. This legislation continues strong Congressional support of our military and their families. This year’s NDAA further helps us provide for our military families by eliminating barriers to spousal employment, expanding access to childcare, and building new housing.”

“This NDAA also makes the investment to ensure our men and women in uniform have the resources they need to defend our national security. It builds on our efforts to modernize critical systems and equipment, such as combat vehicles, aircraft, and missile defense, to deter and counter threats from the Chinese Communist Party while rejecting President Biden’s effort to reduce the size of the military. I urge the Senate to take up the NDAA soon to ensure timely passage of this critical legislation,” said Guthrie.
