WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) released the following statement after voting for H.R. 2, Secure the Border Act of 2023. “While President Biden chose to end Title 42 border protections this week amid a surge of migrants at the southern border, House Republicans took action to secure the border with the passage of the Secure the Border Act. President Biden’s complete mismanagement of the border has resulted in record illegal border crossings, more than 85,000 migrant children unaccounted for, and illicit and deadly fentanyl coming across the southern border and into our communities in Kentucky. The humanitarian, national security, and drug trafficking issues must be addressed since President Biden is failing to secure the border. I am delivering on my promise to secure the border by supporting the construction of the border wall, more Border Patrol agents, and stronger border policies in the Secure the Border Act,” said Guthrie. ### |
