WASHINGTON, D.C. - Republican Leader of the Energy and Commerce Committee’s Health Subcommittee Brett Guthrie (KY-02) voted against H.R. 3, Speaker Pelosi’s price control scheme for prescription drugs, failed in the Energy and Commerce Committee markup with a bipartisan vote. Guthrie led amendments to expose: • H.R. 3 will harm those with neurodegenerative diseases by implementing socialist price controls that would result in fewer cures and treatments in America— eliminating hope for millions of people battling diseases. • In H.R. 3, Democrats plan to use a budget gimmick to stop future savings for people’s insulin. This amendment would help lower diabetic patients’ out-of-pocket costs at the pharmacy counter. “Speaker Pelosi’s bill will bring us one step closer to a single payer health care system. Under H.R. 3, we would be forced to sacrifice access to cutting edge innovative cures and treatments. H.R. 3 discriminates against people with disabilities, disincentives research and development, and had it been in place last year, we likely would not be where we are today with COVID-19 vaccine development,” said Guthrie. |
