WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) announced a personal protective equipment (PPE) grant for Whitesville Volunteer Fire Department. This volunteer fire department in Daviess County is using their newly awarded grant of $2,782 to acquire PPE to protect against COVID-19. Funding for this Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grant was authorized in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which Guthrie supported. “Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, our local first responders have been answering the call to help people in the community,” said Guthrie. “With this new federal grant, Whitesville Volunteer Fire Department will be able to purchase more PPE to help protect against COVID-19. While PPE is effective in helping stop the spread of the virus, vaccines will ultimately protect us from COVID-19 and help us get back to normal. With Kentucky first responders eligible for COVID-19 vaccines, I encourage firefighters to roll up their sleeves to help defeat COVID-19 across the Commonwealth and country.” ### |
