BOWLING GREEN, KY – Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) today applauded the Trump administration’s grants for Kentucky and the Second District, made possible by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. So far, the Second District has received over $32 million in CARES Act grants, and the Commonwealth overall has received over $2.6 billion.
“When we created the CARES Act, we wanted to put power in the hands of state and local leaders who can make the best decisions for their communities,” said Guthrie. “The CARES Act authorized grants across the federal government to help local organizations and communities fight back against the coronavirus pandemic. I want to thank the Trump administration for sending this grant money to the Second District and to Kentucky so that Kentuckians can get relief from this invisible enemy.”
Recently announced grants include money for local housing agencies, health care facilities, and Kentucky schools.
“We need expanded testing capabilities, so I am glad to see three Second District clinics receiving this important funding,” said Guthrie. “I am also glad that local communities and schools will receive funding to help residents weather this storm. I will continue to work with my colleagues and with the administration to ensure that the Second District has the resources it needs.”
In addition to grant money, the Trump administration has also delivered over 1.2 million units of personal protective equipment (PPE) to Kentucky.
See below for lists of grants sent to the Second District and to the Commonwealth. Grants will continue to be announced on a rolling basis.
