Guthrie Announces Annual Congressional Art Competition
Washington,
April 2, 2020
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) today announced the beginning of the 2020 Second District Congressional Art Competition, which will be held digitally this year to protect students, parents, and faculty from the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. “Every year I enjoy hosting the Second District Congressional Art Competition,” said Guthrie. “While the competition will be formatted differently this year, I am hopeful that during this unprecedented time, the competition will give students something to work towards. The coronavirus outbreak has changed many parts of our daily life, but it has not changed the level of talent among our students. I look forward to seeing this year’s entries!” The Congressional Art Competition is an annual high school art contest held by each of the U.S. House of Representatives in their respective congressional districts. All high school students (grades 9-12) are encouraged to submit artwork for the competition. Artwork and application materials should be submitted digitally to guthrieassistance@mail.house.gov by April 28, 2020. The winner and finalists will be selected by an independent panel of art professors from colleges and universities across Kentucky’s Second District. The winning artwork will hang in the U.S. Capitol for the rest of the year. Additionally, Congressman Guthrie will hold a “Facebook Favorite” competition to give members of the general public the opportunity to vote for their favorite entries. Artwork will be posted on his official Facebook page, and the winning piece will be displayed in Congressman Guthrie’s Bowling Green District Office. The online competition will be held May 4-7, 2020. Winners of the Congressional Art Competition will be announced on May 8, 2020. Click here for the 2020 Art Competition Flyer. Rules and guidelines are available under the “Constituent Services” section of Congressman Guthrie’s website.
