Washington, DC– Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) issued the following statement following the July 2012 employment report showing the unemployment rate rose to 8.3 percent. “This report reiterates what every American already knows – our economy continues to struggle and uncertainty is getting worse. After 42 consecutive months of the national unemployment rate being above eight percent, I think we can all agree that this is not acceptable. “The private sector is clearly not doing fine and I hope President Obama realizes that. Tomorrow marks 200 days since he last met with the Jobs Council he appointed. Maybe it’s time he schedule a meeting. “Our nation is at a critical point. We can either continue on this route of high unemployment and uncertainty or move toward a path to encourage growth and investment. I choose jobs and a booming economy.” ###
