Washington, DC – Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) announced today that he secured $100,000 to build a new water main for downtown Bardstown.

“I have been working in Congress to help Nelson County in any way I can, including securing funds for projects like this that are essential to the economic development of the community,” Guthrie said.  “I am pleased to have the opportunity to help provide the necessary resources for critical water projects.”

“The city of Bardstown is most grateful for Congressman Brett Guthrie’s efforts on our behalf for this project,” Bardstown Mayor Dick Heaton said.  “These funds are a significant contribution for our Main Street revitalization efforts.  Our thanks to Congressman Guthrie for finding a funding source for this much needed improvement to our city water infrastructure.

These funds were included in FY 2010 Financial Services Appropriations Act, which is expected to pass the U.S. House of Representatives next week.
