Washington, DC– Today Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) voted to override President Obama’s veto of H.R. 3762, the Restoring American’s Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act.

“Once again, the President has vetoed a bill that has passed in both the House and the Senate, and that has the support of a majority of Americans.  I am disappointed that the President continues to double-down on the broken law and allow it to continue to harm hard-working American families and small businesses,” said Congressman Guthrie.

H.R. 3762 repeals some of the most harmful parts of Obamacare including its taxes and penalties, coverage subsidies, and Medicaid expansion provisions. The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office concludes that repealing Obamacare will reduce the national deficit by $516 billion over the next ten years.

The bill also stops the government from using taxpayer funding to support Planned Parenthood and instead invests into community health centers that provide health care for women, men, and children, including the unborn.  Furthermore, this bill addresses the growing public health crisis of substance abuse and addresses mental health needs.
