Guthrie Supports Military, NDAA

Our military is composed of the best and the bravest. This bill provides a platform to ensure they receive the best care and support available – both on the front lines and once they come home, said Congressman Guthrie.

Washington, DC– Congressman Brett Guthrie today voted in support of H.R. 4435, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2015.

Unanimously passed out of committee, H.R. 4435 is composed of realistic and meaningful savings, rather than the harsh cuts proposed by the Administration.

“We must support the brave men and women of our military and this legislation does so in a financially smart way,” said Congressman Guthrie. “The bill ensures our commitments to the military are met, and prevents the threat of permanent damage to our military, its programs and our efforts for recruitment and retention.”

The bill also includes bipartisan reforms to address sexual assault in the military and funding for behavioral and psychological health programs to help counteract increased suicide rates among military families.

“Our military is composed of the best and the bravest. This bill provides a platform to ensure they receive the best care and support available – both on the front lines and once they come home,” said Congressman Guthrie.
