This commonsense legislation offers a solution to yet another flaw in the president's health care law.
Washington, DC– Congressman Brett Guthrie today voted in support of H.R. 2775, the “No Subsidies Without Verification Act.” “Obamacare and its implementation have been top concerns among Kentuckians,” said Congressman Guthrie. “This commonsense legislation offers a solution to yet another flaw in the president’s health care law." H.R. 2775 would correct more than 600 pages of regulations issued by the Department of Health and Human Services on July 5, 2013. The regulations do not require the government to verify that each applicant seeking subsidies on the health care exchanges are qualified for the financial assistance. A Wall Street Journal article estimates as much as $250 billion in fraudulent payments, should H.R. 2775 not be signed into law. This legislation would instead require the HHS Inspector General to verify subsidies are being issued only to eligible applicants. “At a time when our nation’s spending is out of control, this commonsense bill should be something that Members on both sides of the aisle support,” added Congressman Guthrie. ### |
