Guthrie Backs Energy Package that Will Lower Energy Costs and Grow Jobs

H.R. 2, the American Energy Solutions for Lower Costs and More American Jobs Act is comprised of more than a dozen bills that will boost our energy independence and ensure that energy is more affordable and accessible for everyone.

Washington, DC– Congressman Brett Guthrie today voted in support of a package of bills that will revitalize and unleash America’s energy sector.

“Kentuckians are looking for relief from high energy prices, whether it’s at the pump, with their utility bills, or increased prices at the grocery store,” said Congressman Guthrie.  “The House has passed a number of pro-energy bills that would lower the cost of food and fuel, but the Senate has refused to act on them.  Today, we passed the entire pro-consumer energy package again and encourage the Senate to act.”

H.R. 2, the American Energy Solutions for Lower Costs and More American Jobs Act is comprised of more than a dozen bills that will boost our energy independence and ensure that energy is more affordable and accessible for everyone.

Along with prohibiting the Administration from continuing its process to develop new coal regulations that would cost thousands of jobs, the bill increases on- and off-shore energy production and prevents the Administration from imposing duplicative hydraulic fracturing regulations in states that already regulate the activity.  H.R. 2 also includes the Northern Route Approval Act, the Natural Gas Pipeline Permitting Reform Act, the North American Energy Infrastructure Act, the Energy Consumers Relief Act, the Electricity Security and Affordability Act, the Thermal Insulation Efficiency Improvement Act and the Domestic Prosperity and Global Freedom Act.

“H.R. 2 puts the American people first by reigning in the EPA, fighting the President’s War on Coal, improving our vastly under-developed energy infrastructure, safely increasing domestic energy production, and making it easier to export surplus natural gas.  This package is a commonsense solution to the energy needs of Kentucky families,” added Congressman Guthrie.
