Washington, DC– Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) was appointed today by Speaker Paul Ryan to represent the House on the conference committee for legislation to address our nation’s opioid epidemic. The committee will work to resolve the differences between the House and Senate-passed bills. The compromise package will then be sent to the President.

“This is an issue prevalent in all parts of the U.S., and tragically Kentucky has one of the highest numbers of lives that have been lost as a result of opioid abuse,” said Congressman Guthrie. “This conference committee is the critical next step to advance a final product to address our nation’s opioid epidemic.”

The following Members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee will be joining Congressman Guthrie on the conference committee:

·        Rep. Joseph Pitts (PA-16)

·        Rep. Leonard Lance (NJ-07)

·        Rep. Adam Kinzinger (IL-16)

·        Rep. Larry Bucshon (IN-08)

·        Rep. Susan Brooks (IN-05)
