Washington, DC– Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) today voted for the Conference Report to Accompany S. 524, the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act, after House and Senate opioid conferees filed the report earlier this week. This legislation would help prevent and treat addiction and abuse of opioids in our nation. “Every community in the Second District has suffered the heartbreak and loss of loved ones due to opioid abuse, and nearly everyone I talk to knows someone battling the addiction,” said Congressman Guthrie. “Combatting this epidemic has been a top focus of Congress this year, and my colleagues and I on the opioid conference committee have produced a comprehensive solution to address multiple facets of this epidemic.” “The Conference Report is a multi-pronged, comprehensive response that provides new tools and makes critical policy changes to combat the epidemic. This conference report has the support of 200 advocacy groups and is largely based on legislation that passed both the House and Senate with overwhelming, nearly unanimous margins. I am proud to support this package and believe it is a significant step forward in combatting the opioid epidemic that continues to destroy lives and communities across our country,” added Congressman Guthrie.
