Washington, DC– Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) today led a letter urging the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to keep Medicare Advantage affordable and available to its nearly 18 million beneficiaries. “The Medicare Advantage program is a very important benefit for senior citizens and individuals with disabilities,” said Guthrie. “Many of my constituents with unique needs rely on this patient-centered approach to health care. I am glad to see strong bipartisan support in calling for CMS to keep and strengthen this program. I hope the administration will join us in protecting some of our country’s most vulnerable citizens.” Medicare Advantage offers additional choices for the elderly and individuals with disabilities to receive high-quality care that is tailored to their specific health needs. Every year, CMS releases a 60-Day Notice and Draft Call Letter for Medicare Advantage and Part D, which outlines funding levels and program proposals for the following year. Guthrie’s letter, which he authored with U.S. Reps. Tony Cárdenas (CA-29), Erik Paulsen (MN-03), and Earl Blumenauer (OR-03), was signed by 261 members of the House.
