Washington, DC– Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) today commented on House passage of the American Health Care Act. “Today, the House voted to repeal and replace Obamacare with my support,” said Guthrie. “As vice chair of the Health Subcommittee, I was proud to work closely with the Trump administration and my colleagues in the House to craft the American Health Care Act, which is a crucial first step towards fixing our health care system. Our country has suffered for too long from Obamacare’s broken promises. Kentuckians are paying more today and have fewer options than pre-Obamacare. The American Health Care Act provides for a patient-centered, market-driven health care system that would reverse the costly effects of Obamacare’s model of government-centered care. We must give patients control over their health care, not bureaucrats in Washington. I urge the Senate to take up this critical bill and send it to President Trump’s desk as soon as possible.” The House also passed H.R. 2192 today with Rep. Guthrie’s support. This bill would ensure that Members of Congress and their staff receive no special treatment when purchasing their health insurance. Rep. Guthrie serves as vice chair of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health, which crafted the American Health Care Act and approved it earlier this year. The bill was also vetted by the House Ways and Means Committee, the House Budget Committee, and the House Rules Committee. ### |
