Congressman Guthrie Announces 2016 Congressional Art Competition Winner

Washington, DC– Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) is excited to announce Noah Martin of Hardin County as the first place overall winner for Kentucky’s Second District, 2016 Congressional Art Competition. Noah, a student at North Hardin High School, titled his artwork, “Disappointed in You.” The winner and finalists were selected by an independent panel of art professors from colleges and universities across Kentucky’s Second District. “I thoroughly enjoyed viewing all of the impressive artwork submitted by such talented high school students from Kentucky’s Second District. “Noah should be very proud of his accomplishment and I look forward to meeting with him in Washington, where he will see his artwork displayed in the hallway of the U.S. Capitol Building,” stated Congressman Guthrie. Congressman Guthrie announced all of Kentucky’s Second District winners of the art competition at a reception held at My Old Kentucky Home State Park last evening for participants and their families. The Congressional Art Competition, which began in 1982, allows the winning artwork from each Congressional District throughout the nation to be displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building for one full year. In additional to the winner’s artwork being displayed, each overall winner receives two airline tickets to our nation’s capital where they will attend a reception in their honor later this summer. The second and third place winners’ art will be displayed in Congressman Guthrie’s district office in Bowling Green, Kentucky Additionally, Congressman Guthrie will be holding a Facebook Favorite competition where the county winners’ artwork will be posted on his official Facebook page. The general public will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite artwork to determine which piece will be displayed in Congressman Guthrie’s D.C. office. The online competition will be open from April 26 - April 29, 5:00 PM (CST). A full list of winners from Kentucky’s Second District can be found below.
