Congressman Guthrie Announces Service Academy Appointments
Washington, DC,
March 1, 2016
Washington, DC– Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) announced today that two more students from Kentucky’s Second District, Alex Goff and Daniel Stuber, have received appointments to the United States Naval Academy. “It was a great honor to break the news to Alex and Daniel about their appointments. I am proud to see such motivated students from the Second District offered the opportunity to pursue their dreams if they choose at such prestigious institutions. These students have strived and excelled in academics, leadership, and athletics with the goal of obtaining a great education along with military experience.” Each year Congressman Guthrie, with guidance from the Second District Academy Board, nominates a limited number of high-achieving and well-rounded students to our nation’s service academies – the Army, Navy, Air Force and Merchant Marine academies. Once nominations are made, each service academy determines who will receive an appointment through a rigorous and competitive application process. The service academies announce appointments on a rolling basis. “As a West Point graduate myself, I take great pride and excitement in the academy nomination and appointment process. I am always encouraged by the high number of impressive applications my office receives for a nomination to the service academies,” added Congressman Guthrie. Details about the students’ appointments are included below in alphabetical order by last name. An appointment is an offer of admission to the Academy which allows the student the option to accept or decline admission to the academy. Over the course of the next few months, Congressman Guthrie will announce any additional appointments.
