Guthrie Supports Bipartisan Bill to Prevent Student Loan Interest Rates from Doubling

With one child in college, one starting this fall and one in high school, I know first-hand how challenging college can be for families.
Washington, DC– Congressman Brett Guthrie today issued the following statement following the House’s Motion to Concur to the Senate Amendment to H.R. 1911, the “Bipartisan Student Loan Certainty Act of 2013”: “Pursuing higher education is an important goal that requires planning. Student loans are a big piece of the puzzle, particularly with a weakened economy and the soaring cost to attend college. With one child in college, one starting this fall and one in high school, I know first-hand how challenging college can be for families. “I am pleased that the Senate followed the House’s lead and finally acted on legislation that affects so many Americans. Just like parents and small business owners, students and graduates need certainty. This legislation provides students with a long-term solution while still protecting taxpayers.” ---------------------- The House of Representatives originally passed H.R. 1911 in May 2013. ### |
