Congressman Guthrie Releases Statement Ahead of Tonight's State of the Union
Washington, DC,
January 12, 2016
Washington, DC– Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) issued the following statement today in advance of President Obama’s State of the Union address: “Tonight’s speech will be President Obama’s last State of the Union address. As we reflect back on his presidency, it is important to note that while the President has always highlighted a ‘bold’ agenda, his empty words and good sound bites do not benefit Americans. Despite all of the administration’s rhetoric about helping American families, the President has spent seven years burdening hardworking Americans with regulatory overreach through Obamacare, Dodd-Frank, EPA rules, and numerous other heavy-handed regulations across the federal government. “One can also see a stark contrast between the President’s agenda and the pro-growth, anti-regulation agenda of the House Republicans. House Republicans are working to empower all Americans with the opportunity to achieve a brighter future by implementing smarter, less burdensome regulations, allowing for ingenuity and creativity in our markets to grow our economy, and protecting the most vulnerable in our society. “As we look forward on the final year of his presidency, in a time when our nation is still dealing with a strained economic recovery and living with uncontained threats to U.S. national security, it is important that House Republicans take a strong stance against President Obama’s top-down, government-knows-best, one-size-fits-all policies.” ### |
