Washington, DC – Today, on Manufacturing Day, Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) re-introduced the Reducing Employer Burdens, Unleashing Innovation, and Labor Development (REBUILD) Act.

“American manufacturing has a rich history and supports millions of good-paying jobs,” said Congressman Guthrie.  “The policy priorities included in the REBUILD Act will ensure that remains true for generations to come.  As we look for ways to strengthen our economic recovery, we need to support policies that will grow jobs and encourage innovation.  This bill addresses issues that have continued to come up in conversations with local manufacturers on ways to see growth in the industry.”

The REBUILD Act is comprised of a “top 10 list” of policy priorities,and will encourage domestic production and increase our global competitiveness. Building off of previous legislation introduced by Congressman Guthrie, and incorporating feedback from roundtable discussions and conversation with Kentucky manufacturers, the bill focuses on the following reforms that are key to growth: improving workforce training, streamlining comprehensive tax reform and expanding the R&D tax credit, developing federal oil and gas resources, reducing EPA regulations, repealing Obamacare and lowering health insurance costs, protecting against unfair trade practices, modernizing export controls and opening up more spectrum for industry to spur technological innovation.

“Boosting our global competitiveness needs to be a top priority given today’s market conditions.  The REBUILD Act will put America back on track to be a manufacturing leader in the global economy,” added Congressman Guthrie.
